| Hinton Estate Pinot Noir 2006 |
|
| Tasting notes |
| Deep ruby red, rich aromas of black cherries and plums with hints of herbs and nutty oak. It has velvety tannins, with a smooth finish that is long and tasty.

| Winemaker's notes |
| The fruit for this vintage was amazing; the grapes were fantastically ripe and extremely flavourful. The Goal in the winery was to craft a wine that embodied all the diversity of flavours and aromas developed in the Vineyard. To help achieve this a few key techniques were employed: a long “cold soak” prior to fermentation extracted more of the subtle light fruit characters from the skins; a relatively fast alcoholic fermentation with a long post ferment maceration balanced out the tannins; the wine was barrelled down immediately after pressing and a lot of solids were incorporated to enhance the mouth fell and texture; and the wine was racked only once, priot to bottling.

Gold - International wine challenge 2008
Judges’ notes: Sweet, heady, fragrant strawberries-and-cream nose with delicate violet notes. Concentrated-style Pinot but really enjoyable. Great red fruit flavours and a long finish. |
